Infrastructure problems

February 6, 2014
Marshall Independent

To the editor:

Our country is facing a major crisis. There are many bridges, roads and water systems that need replacing. Most of these items are at least 50 years old.

A few years ago the I-35 bridge in Minneapolis collapsed and some people died or were seriously injured. If the old, crumbling bridges, roads and water systems aren't replaced soon there will be more disasters like that one.

In the past 50 years we have spent about 6 trillion dollars on senseless wars with huge consequences.

When it comes to the politicians in Washington, D.C., they flatly refuse to fund the necessary projects. They have no concern about these matters at hand. They reject any plan to fix these problems. they don't want to do the right thing.

In other words, they just don't care what happens to our country. This is bad thinking on their part. Their priority should be to fun these projects. The majority of politicians are bad news. Our infrastructures are in bad shape! Our congress rating is the worst in history.
