NCAA WRESTLING: Huskies turn back Mustnags in dual

ST. CLOUD - No. 4-ranked St. Cloud State defeated Southwest Minnesota State 26-10 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Thursday.

The Huskies took the first five bouts of the match, including three bonus-point victories coming at 125, 149 and 157.

SCSU's Andrew Pokorny defeated Justin Reinsma in the showdown between the No. 2- and No. 8-ranked wrestlers at 133 pounds.

Pokorny took a 9-0 lead after the first period due to three near-falls - one three-pointer and two two-pointers. Reinsma mounted a comeback late, but fell by decision, 10-6.

The loss snaps Reinsma's nine-bout winning streak and is his first loss of the calendar year.

Kyle Begin put SMSU on the board with his convincing 12-0 major decision over No. 7 Gabe Fogarty at 165 pounds. Begin began a string of three straight victories for the Mustangs as his teammates Jacob Begin and Andrew Rodas tabbed decisions at 174 and 184.

Cole Wilson was edged by No. 3 Austin Goergen in the heavyweight bout, 6-4.

Wilson looks to record his 20th win of the season at 7 p.m. today, when the Mustangs look to get back on the winning track versus Northern State from the P.E. Gym.
