PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Knights pull upset of Canby

TYLER - A last second shot from Kaylie Nielson pushed the RTR Knights to a 46-44 upset victory over Canby Friday night. The Lancers held a 31-19 halftime lead but the Knights outsourced Canby 27-13 in the second to claim the game.

Nielsen led RTR with 12 points and six rebounds. Destinee Strand contributed nine rebounds, three points and three assists.

The Lancers were led by Morgan Merritt and Ricki Kallhoff with 18 and 12 points, respectively. Kate Devos added eight rebounds, three assists and two points.

IVANHOE - Lakeview stormed to a 70-48 win over Lincoln Hi Friday night behind a 34-point performance from freshman Sadie Stelter. Madi Nelson added nine points for the Lakers to go with seven from Erin Stevens.

Heidi Pavek and Brandi Barke were the leading scorers for Lincoln HI with 19 and 14 respectively.

Stelter had five three pointers on the night.

Justine Lee poured in 22 points for the Blackjacks in addition to contributing seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Kelly Husby hauled down a game-high 15 rebounds and added six points and three blocks, while Sadie Zaiser pitched in 14 points and seven boards.

Kalli Forsell led the Fighting Saints with eight points.

COTTONWOOD - Jonah Dovre collected a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead Lakeview to a 53-51 win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Friday in Cottonwood.

Bayley Enstad scored nine points for the Lakers, while Jaden Hoffman chipped in eight points and 15 rebounds in the victory. Jacob Neu added seven points, while Jakeb Brower had six.

Brett Vercruysse paced the Knights with 21 points and seven boards, while Brett Peterson contributed 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Brett Knudsen tallied seven points, four steals and three assists.

SLAYTON - Westbrook-Walnut Grove scored 45 second-half points, but the comeback wasn't enough as Murray County Central won 67-61 on Thursday night.

Four players scored in double digits for MCC, led by 14 points from Grant Everson.

Alex Knutson led the way for WWG with 23 points.

Against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove,the Bobcats picked up pin falls from Jared Schroepfer, Cole Anderson, Josh Altermatt, Josh Mattison, Jordan Schroepfer, Jared Welch and Alex Schroepfer en route to winning 71-4.

Spencer Jenniges collected a win by technical fall for Wabasso/RRC, while Tyson Doubler and Derek Christian earned decision wins. Caleb Kemp, Tristan Wenish and Cody Coulter won their matches by forfeit.

DAWSON - United Wrestling won six straight matches to secure a 35-21 win over Canby Friday night.

At 106, United's Payton Jorgenson picked-up a 21-2 major decision over Canby's Payton Viessman. Donny Bothun grabbed a 5-1 decision for United over Wyatt Johansen. United claimed its second major decision at 120 with Jordan Bothun defeating Konnor King 19-7.

At 126, United's Matt Henriksen edged out Canby's Nick Anthony 6-2. Spencer Sulflow picked-up United's first fall, pinning Brett Jelen at three minutes, 11 seconds. United's Logan Knoshal defeated Billy Deslauriers 7-2 at 138. Canby got on the board at 145 with Jack Citrowske earning a narrow 3-1 victory over Mitch Kwilinski.

United's Keith Abraham answered with a 4-1 win over Kyler Jelen at 152. Mason Kwilinski followed suit for United, beating Luke Jelen. Michael Peterson earned a pin for the Lancers at 170, putting Wyatt Ireland on his back at 3:24.

Christian Full kept Canby's momentum, pinning Anthony Quiqley in 1:43 at 182. Cole Regnier grabbed a 7-2 decision over United's Markus Kranz. The Lancer's Adam Evenson claimed Canby's fourth-straight win, defeating David Nelson 3-0. The heavyweight bout went to United with Jake Lehmann pinning Cory Castel at 2:35.
