MARSHALL - Brent Haukom, Dylan Criquet-Danielson and Andrew Bell each produced three-point games as Marshall defeated Fairmont 7-3 in a non-conference contest Saturday at Lockwood Motors Ice Arena.
The Tigers, winners in seven of their last eight games, moved to 12-9-0 overall this season. The Cardinals fell to 4-16-0 this year.
"I think we are playing more as a team in the second half of the season and its paid off for us," Haukom said. "About half of our roster has the experience of going to the state tournament last season. We have a little better leadership this year because we have players who have been through it."

Marshall’s Brent Haukom (13) lifts a shot over the shoulder of Fairmont goaltender Colton Cunning for a power play goal as time expired in the second period of a non-conference game Saturday at Lockwood Motors Ice Arena.
Marshall trailed 39 seconds into the game on a goal from Fairmont's Reilly Hoefker, who was set up on a pass from Rodney Engstrom.
But the Tigers seized control by scoring the next four tallies to take a 4-1 lead after two periods.
Blaine Moran's goal, assisted by Derek Rasmussen, tied the contest 1-1 with 12:49 left in the first period. Then, with 4:20 remaining, Haukom's first of two power-play goals put Marshall ahead the rest of the way.
Criquet-Danielson, who also scored two goals, and Alex Buysse assisted Haukom on his first tally.
MHS, which outshot the Cardinals 48-15, hounded Fairmont goaltender Colton Cunning with a 21-6 advantage in shots through the first 17 minutes of the game. The Tigers won the second period in shots, 12-4, and the third period, 15-5.
"It was a good win for us because we were fortunate to get some bounces and win some battles," Tigers head coach Michael Weiss said. "Fairmont's goalie (Cunning) made a lot of saves to keep us off the scoreboard."
Leading 2-1 for much of the second, Marshall scored two goals in the final 2 minutes of the period. Criquet-Danielson poked in a shot from the right corner of the crease with 1:52 left before Haukom fired a shot from the top of the crease and over the right shoulder of Cunning for another power-play goal as time in the period expired.
"We came out a little flat, but we got it going toward the second half of the first two periods," Haukom said. "That's just high school hockey. (Crashing the net) is how you're going to score goals."
"We were trying to get a lot of pucks to the net. There were a lot of scrums in front of the net that we didn't score on, but there were also a few when we got a good bounce and led to goals," Weiss said.
Criquet-Danielson was assisted by Bell, while Haukom converted on passes from Bell and Jeremiah Barker.
The rest of the game's scoring came in the final 6:15.
The Cardinals' Greg Claeys used a power-play goal to trim the MHS lead to 4-2 on assists from Samuel Havnen and Brock Johnson before a flurry of goals were scored in the final 3 minutes of the game.
Criquet-Danielson struck for the second time with the help of Alex Buysse to make it 5-2 before Derek Rasmussen handed the Tigers a four-goal lead on a goal assisted by Moran and Taylor Rasmussen.
Havnen had an unassisted goal with 25 seconds left to cut Marshall's lead to 6-3. But Bell scored the Tigers' seventh goal after taking a pass from Haukom.
MHS goaltender Jon Loefke made 12 saves to secure the victory, while Cunning stopped 41 shots in taking the loss.
Marshall returns to the ice at 7 p.m. Tuesday, when the Tigers host St. Peter/LeSueur-Henderson/Tri-City United at Lockwood Motors Ice Arena.
