MARSHALL - The Class 3A No. 3-ranked Marshall girls basketball team controlled all aspects of the game against New Ulm on Tuesday night defeating the Eagles 71-22 in a section match-up in Marshall.
The Tigers (22-1) held New Ulm to only 10 points in the first half.
"One of the things we wanted to make sure we did was we wanted to be crisp and just kind of take care of business," said Marshall head coach Dan Westby. "And we did a good job of that. Everyone contributed. It was a good team effort."

Marshall's Lexi Saugstad controls the ball while being defended by New Ulm's Briana Sieve during a non-conference game Tuesday at Marshall High School.
Marah Mulso led the Tigers with 14 points while Hannah Bennett and Callie Graff each scored nine. Sarah Buysse and Lexi Saugstad each added seven points in the win while Kenzie Beekman had six points to go with four rebounds, three assists, five steals and a blocked shot.
New Ulm tried several defensive schemes, but were unable to contain the Tigers.
"They came out in a zone, and I thought we moved the ball well and got some good looks early and knocked some shots down," Westby said. "Then they made the switch to man-to-man and I thought our kids adjusted to that as well."
The Tigers will finish the week playing host to a pair of solid opponents in Sioux Falls (S.D.) Roosevelt on Thursday and Benilde-St. Margaret's on Saturday.
