GRANT, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota farmer wants to turn his dairy barn into a venue for rural weddings and other gatherings but neighbors are pushing back over concerns about increased traffic, drunken drivers and loud music.
A St. Paul Pioneer Press report (http://bit.ly/1s2uKQL ) says Scott Jordan has a farm in Grant, about 15 miles northeast of St. Paul. He agreed to let one couple have their wedding in his barn, and it went so well he decided to start a side business.
But some neighbors didn't want the city to grant him a permit. Mayor Tom Carr says they were afraid the events would bring disruption and safety issues.
The city eventually granted a permit but imposed 32 restrictions, including mandatory renovations and noise limits. Jordan says he's not sure the efforts are worth it.
