Employer seminar set for June 4 at SMSU
An employer seminar, "FMLA and More. An Employment Law Update" will be offered on June 4in Marshall at Southwest Minnesota State University, with ITV sites in Granite Falls, Redwood Falls, Worthington and Pipestone. A second presentation will be offered in Willmar on June 5.
Pamela Harris, an attorney with Martin & Squires, P.A., will present updated information on the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA); who is covered what employers must do and how FMLA, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Workers' Compensation (WC) may all overlap. She will provide unemployment law updates on topics such as Ban the Box, Women's Economic Security Act and changes to the regulations that govern affirmative action plans for veterans and individuals with disabilities. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions as well.
The Marshall seminar is scheduled from noon-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at SMSU, with ITV sessions at four of Minnesota West Community and Technical College campuses. The June 5 presentation is in Willmar at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
