On the porch

July 26, 2014
By Jennifer Andries , Marshall Independent

Last week, the Lyon County Historical Society received a donation in the mail to add to its collection. We received a crazy quilt, photographs, pension certificate, obituary and diary belonging to Thomas Daniel and Edith Belle (Kenyon) Seals. Seals, a Civil War veteran, and his wife Edith were early settlers of Minneota. The photograph this week is the crazy quilt that Edith made. The quilt is beautiful and in great condition. On the crazy quilt, she sewed on her husband's Grand Army of the Republic ribbon from the convention in Marshall in 1898. Once we inventory, label and catalog the items, we will work on displaying the items at the museum.
