As I start writing the On the Porch column this week, the Lyon County Fair is happening. If you haven't been out to the fair, today (Saturday) is the last day to see the exhibits, shows, fair food, and more! Coincidentally, we recently received a Lyon County Fair pennant from 1914 to add to the museum's collection. As you may know, 1914 is also the year that World War I started in Europe. Our display at the LCHS fair building this year features artifacts, photographs, propaganda posters, and information on World War I. Our intent is to gain more information on the men and women who served their country from Lyon County. These veterans are no longer living, but their descendants may have information, photographs, personal belongings, etc. to help expand our WWI collection at the museum. For more information on donating items or providing information on WWI veterans from Lyon County, please contact us at the museum.
