Only idiots don't get flu shots. Not only do they increase risk to themselves but they increase the risks for all those around them.

Three idiots have stepped up already.
Al, I had a flu shot once. I was in a coma for three days and nearly died. I have not had one since. You, I believe, are an idiot.

You are not in the medical literature in regard to those reacting to a flu vaccine, blasphemer. Please provide your treating doctor and the medical institution you were treated at. Will likely need a medical release to verify your fairy tale.

Al, Right here at good ol' Wiener Memorial. I even received my last rights. It's been 52 years...so good luck finding the records. Oh, and by the way I've never had the flu either. Teachers don't get sick.

There were no preventive flu shots 52 years ago.

As I have always said previous comments, too many of you profess to be experts, but do not support your assertions with facts.
A vaccine for the flu virus was discovered in 1944, due to the work of Dr. Jonas Salk and Dr. Thomas Francis… 69 years ago… although not widely distributed until the 1950s, approx.. 58 years ago…
Watching some of you trying to flex your brain is like watching Don Knotts flex in a mirror. If you cannot support your assertions, keep them to yourself. Insinuating that Blasphemer is a liar is not acceptable and bullying serves no one. I believe she is owed an apology.
Thanks for sharing your story Blasphemer...

You might want to go to the CDC website, where there is a history of vaccinations. Polio was the first big one and that was widespread. A flu vaccine was in fact being developed but was not widely available 50 years ago. It was certainly not available nationally at that time.
blasphemer - have you checked with your doctor in recent years, and does he/she recommend that you get the annual flu shot? What about the pneumonia shot every five years?

And you are a grad of what institution?
rangeral: sorry you are not going to engage me any further, I perceive you to be a bully of the people with opinions, but you offer no substance or depth... leave the intellectual discussions to those who appreciate viewpoints and have a positive perception of mankind... This is a forum for discussion and for people to share stories and opinions... people in these forums should not be subjected to condescending remarks... Little motivation for people to be liars out here because most people are anonymous.
My recommendation to those of you with a handle other than rangeral: ignore this individual, he only adds hatred to the day and is a lonely individual looking for a fight; for whatever reason.
God bless the 1st amendment and those who use this right with the respect in which it was intended...

grad - so you didn't go to the CDC website to take a look at their information and you are chastising m for not continuing the conversation?
You are the condescending one today.
You have a distorted view of so-called bullying if I ask you a question and you refuse to answer it. That makes you the bully.

Al, Every time that you open your mouth you prove yourself to be a BIGGER idiot. I got the vaccine in 1960 when I was eight years old. I KNOW this. It almost killed me. I KNOW this. I therefore made a decision to never get a flu vaccine again. You obviously know NOTHING about this. So shut your piehole already.
