As long as schools are gun free zones the state capital and every other government building should be gun free. So no cops or guards who are carrying should not be allowed special privileges. I do not agree with gun free zones but if our children don't have anyone to protect them in their gun free zones, then niether should our law makers.

Guns are not necessary at the capitol. Forget about what's written on a piece of old parchment and use your common sense. How about installing a metal detector and increasing security staff instead? A drop in the bucket...

We should just ban our current legislators and solve the whole problem. It certainly wouldn't hurt any "progress" they're making.

It hasn't worked for schools so it's not likely to work at the capitol either.

If we ban firearms at the capitol than how are people supposed to exercise their constitutionally guarantied right to violently overthrow the government? That's sarcasm, btw.
Perhaps we should look to Texas for the example: during the second special session capitol police banned women from bringing sanitary napkins and tampons into the capitol for fear they would assault legislators with them. They were, however, allowed to bring their guns in.
Texas has served as a shining example for us to follow in several areas. That's sarcasm too.
