CDA meeting Monday

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court #1291 will be having a meeting following the 5:30 p.m. Mass Monday at Holy Redeemer. The meeting will be in Carlin Hall and it will involve the annual baby shower, an update on the Marshall Choices Pregnancy Center, and Brad Louwagie will give a presentation on the new statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

2025 NUDCCW annual convention

The New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will have its 64th annual convention Saturday, April 26, at the Church of St. Mary and School in Tracy.

The theme of the convention is “Be Bold Believers.” Combating today’s culture requires us to be bold in letting the world know that we believe in Jesus Christ. The day will begin with registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m., keynote speaker in the morning, Holy Mass, lunch, silent auction, various displays, vendors, religious article suppliers, afternoon speakers and conclude with the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 2:30 p.m.

The keynote speaker in the morning is Camille Pauley, co-founder and president of Healing the Culture, a nonprofit organization that evangelizes and converts people to be deeply, authentically and permanently pro-life. In over 25 years as a professional pro-life advocate, Pauley has inspired politicians, judges, lawyers, medical professionals and church leader to defend the sanctity of human life.

The afternoon will consist of three half-hour sessions with U.S. Congressman Brad Finstad, representing Minnesota’s 1st District. He will host three half-hour sessions to discuss practical and pragmatic approaches to participating in civic and legislative processes.

The NUDCCW Resources and Development team, Shirley Nowak and Chris Heiderscheidt, will simultaneously present three half-hour sessions providing a snapshot of CCW, along with some tools to help guide your parish CCW to integrate with the Deanery, Diocesan, Province and National levels of CCW. Stations of the Cross to be led by Bishop Chad W. Zielinski on Good Friday

On Good Friday, April 18 (weather permitting), at 3 p.m. at the Way of the Cross shrine in New Ulm, the Most Rev. Chad W. Zielinski, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of New Ulm, will lead a public prayer and meditation on the 14 Stations of the Cross. This historic shrine of the diocese, which dates back to 1904, features 14 stations with Bavarian statues and a grotto lined along a cobblestone path leading to the Sorrowful Mother of Jesus chapel. With its rich history and cultural significance, the shrine was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

The area Knights of Columbus will staff the Way of the Cross from 1-5 p.m. on Good Friday afternoon.

Hope Harbor fundraiser Sunday

The Hope Harbor fundraiser meal will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Living Word Church, 800 Southview Court, Marshall. The menu includes sloppy joes, coleslaw, beans, chips, pickles and cookies. Freewill donation. To-go and gluten free options will be available.  Proceeds of the freewill donation will benefit Hope Harbor
