Engines are revvin’ at Dickey’s
MARSHALL – The go-karts at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Marshall are finally running.
BC Cool Runnings has been open since mid-August and it’s been busy, said Justina Nwakama, who is the co-owner, along with her husband, Anthony Nwakama.
Justina Nwakama said Thursday of last week, for example, “a group of 24 from D&G Excavating came and then we had a family birthday party come in.”
The cost is $7 plus tax for five minutes – five or six times around the track – with discounts given for groups.
“You have to be at least 52 inches to drive,” she said. “And the passenger has to be at least 40 inches.”
The cost for the passenger is $4 plus tax. Nwakama said families, teens, grandparents with grandkids, people on dates have all tried the new activity.
The go-kart is the latest fun activity at Dickey’s, along with the 18-hole miniature golf and AJ’s Family Arcade.
The Nwakamas would have liked the go-karts to be open last summer, but there was a problem with the construction and the track it had to be torn up and re-done.
But BC Cool Runnings is open now.
“It’s very fun,” said Nwakama. “Come out before it gets cold.”
The go-karts are operational from 3-9 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. weekends.
To play mini golf or go karting, call 507-532-7210 or visit 900 Clarice Avenue. The first nine holes of 18-hole miniature golf course are handicap accessible.
