First Independent Bank welcomes Tuin
First Independent Bank welcomed Doug Tuin as its newest senior vice president and business banker. He brings over 20 years of banking experience from his former role at American Bank and Trust. He currently resides in Fulda with his family and is based out of the Balaton branch. He looks forward to working for a local bank that puts customers first and serves an outstanding community.
Hoffman & Brobst announces promotion
Hoffman & Brobst announced the promotion of Carlton Johnson, CPA to a partner in training. As a partner in training during 2025, Johnson will continue to serve his clients and transition into new relationships with existing long-standing clients. In addition to his client work, Johnson will take an active role with several management aspects of the firm. Effective Jan. 1, 2026, he will be a full equity partner with the practice. Hoffman & Brobst is a full service certified public accounting firm with offices in Marshall, Granite Falls and Minneota.
Johnson is a 2015 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University. He began his career with Hoffman & Brobst in 2016. His professional areas of interest include governmental auditing, personal, corporate and partnership tax preparation. Johnson also specializes in the firm’s concentration in the agricultural industry. His outside interests and involvement include the Marshall Chamber of Commerce’s Marshall Area Young Professionals and Pride in the Tiger Foundation. Originally a native of Pipestone, Johnson and his wife Taylor, have two children and reside in Marshall.
