MARSHALL — For nearly eight years, it’s been a prominent business on Marshall’s Main Street. But Bello Cucina served its last meals to customers on Saturday.

Restaurant owner Jason Mueller said Monday he was closing the business because they were unable to reach a lease agreement with Knochenmus Enterprises, the owners of the New Atlantic Hotel building where Bello Cucina is located.

Bello Cucina’s lease was ending in July, Mueller said.

Bello Cucina has been open at Main Street and College Drive since August 2014. At the time, the building was owned by Schwan’s Company. Mueller said he wanted to thank Schwan’s, as well as the community members who have supported the restaurant over the past several years.

“More than anything, I’m thankful for the community,” he said of Bello Cucina’s time in Marshall.

Bello Cucina still has a location in St. Joseph and Mueller said Bello Cucina gift certificates can still be used there.
