MARSHALL — The corner of College Drive and Bruce Street looks a lot different after the heavy equipment was through with it.

The canopy at the Speedway gas station in Marshall came crashing down Thursday morning.

The gas pumps had already been removed and workers were moving equipment like refrigerator cases out of the building.

The Speedway was closed, owner Jay Cattoor said. However, he was unable to elaborate on future details on the property that includes a Domino’s Pizza operation.

Cattoor was able to share that the property would have new ownership by a chain business.

As of Thursday, the Lyon County Recorder’s Office didn’t show any new sale or transfer of the property yet.

The Speedway station in Marshall was formerly a SuperAmerica. SuperAmerica, a Minnesota-based chain of gas stations, was bought by Marathon Petroleum in 2018, and existing SuperAmerica locations were rebranded as Speedway stations.

In 2021, Marathon Petroleum announced it was selling Speedway to 7-Eleven, Inc. for $21 billion.

Starting at $3.95/week.
