Marshall OKs plat for Kwik Trip
Construction planned this summer at former Speedway location
MARSHALL — Plans to build a Kwik Trip gas station and convenience store in Marshall took another step forward Tuesday evening.
Members of the Marshall City Council approved a plat that would combine three parcels of land near North Bruce Street and East College Drive for the store location.
A representative of Kwik Trip said the plan is to build the new gas station and store this summer.
The city council held a public hearing on the proposed plat Tuesday. Last summer, Kwik Trip bought three parcels of land including the former Speedway gas station property. Kwik Trip sought to combine the parcels of land, said Marshall Public Works Director Jason Anderson.
“We’ve done our preliminary and final plat review. We find everything to be in order,” Anderson said.
A preliminary plat was presented at the Marshall Planning Commission’s Jan. 11 meeting. The planning commission voted to recommend approval of the plat.
Kwik Trip representative Dean George spoke at Tuesday’s public hearing.
“I just wanted to say thank you to the city for welcoming us to Marshall. I wanted you guys to know your city staff has been tremendous in helping us get all the things we needed in order for construction this summer,” George said. “We’re looking forward to being here.”
City council members unanimously approved the final plat for the Kwik Trip property.
