Enjoying ‘a good vibe downtown’ with tunes

MARSHALL — Thursday’s weather was perfect for enjoying an evening outdoors — and getting to listen to some live music only made it better.

“We had such a good vibe downtown,” said Adri DeBoer, communications coordinator of Visit Marshall.

This week kicked off “Tunes On the Terrace,” a series of music events at Terrace 1872, the new plaza between Marshall City Hall and Main Stay Cafe. On Thursday evening, musician and singer Amy Ellsworth performed for an audience gathered on the terrace.

DeBoer said the idea for “Tunes On the Terrace” came as a way to bring people together and use the new downtown space. Visit Marshall reached out to performers about doing sets downtown.

“It’s giving the community a place to gather on a Thursday night,” DeBoer said.

A total of four “Tunes On the Terrace” performances are planned this summer. DeBoer said organizers found a mix of performers, including some local singers and musicians.

The next performance, on July 20, will feature Marshall-based acoustic duo Singing Q’s. Upcoming performances will also feature MG Bailey on Aug. 3, and Doug Krogen on Aug. 17. Performances will all start at 5:30 p.m. at the terrace.

DeBoer encouraged people to bring a lawn chair and come enjoy the music.

DeBoer said the feedback from Ellsworth’s performance was positive. People enjoyed having the opportunity to attend an event like “Tunes On the Terrace” in Marshall, she said.

Starting at $4.38/week.
