BALATON — Emergency responders from several area communities worked to extricate a person who became submerged in a grain bin in rural Murray County on Tuesday afternoon. The Murray County Sheriff’s Office said that a male victim was extricated from the grain, but did not identify him or say what his condition was.
The incident remains under investigation, Chief Deputy Bryan Bose said in a news release.
Around 3:17 p.m., the Murray County dispatch received a report of a male trapped in a grain bin at an address on the 700 block of 211th Street, the news release said. Reports at the scene said the person was completely submerged in the grain, and people at the scene were unable to locate him.
The Sheriff’s Office, together with the Balaton Fire Department and Ambulance, Tracy Fire Department, Garvin Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance, North Memorial Air Care and the Marshall Fire Department, responded at the scene.
Emergency personnel were able to extricate the victim from the grain bin, and remained on scene for about an hour, the Sheriff’s Office said.
