Two injured in Hwy 23 crash

COTTONWOOD — Two Rock County residents were injured in a one-vehicle crash on Minnesota Highway 23 Monday afternoon, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 2:55, in Lucas Township, Lyon County. A 2017 Ram 1500 driven by Jeffrey Eldon Runia, 57, of Magnolia, was northbound on Highway 23 when it left the road, the State Patrol said. The Ram went into the southbound ditch and crashed near milepost 85, the State Patrol said.

Jeffrey Runia and a passenger in the vehicle, 54-year-old Barbara Jean Runia, of Magnolia, were both taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. Two additional passengers, ages 18 and 19, were uninjured, the State Patrol said.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Cottonwood Fire and EMS responded at the crash scene.
