Plea hearing set in check forgery case
MARSHALL — A plea hearing for a Marshall woman charged with stealing from a local construction company has been set for December 10, Lyon County District Court records said.
Rikki Lee Kor, 49, appeared in court on Tuesday, court records said. Kor is charged with 20 counts of check forgery, 14 counts of financial card fraud, and two counts of theft by check. A criminal complaint alleges Kor stole thousands of dollars while working as an accountant at KHC Construction in 2023 and 2024. Kor allegedly issued checks to herself, and used a company credit card to make unauthorized purchases of items like gift cards.
Court documents filed November 8 said the Lyon County Attorney’s Office is seeking a greater sentence for Kor if she is convicted. A notice of intent to seek an aggravated sentence in the case said Kor’s offense was “a major economic offense,” which involved multiple incidents, a monetary loss substantially greater than usual, and other factors.
At Tuesday’s hearing, Kor’s attorney requested that a plea hearing be held in four weeks. A hearing date was set for Dec. 12. A request that Kor be allowed to leave Minnesota to visit her daughter in South Dakota was granted by the court, court records said.
