Flags ordered to fly at half-staff

Gov. Tim Walz ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to fly at half-staff at all state buildings until sunset on Jan. 29 to honor the life and legacy of former President Jimmy Carter.

“President Carter defined what it means to be a servant leader. He fought for our democracy, our climate, humanity, and civil rights around the world,” Walz said Dec. 29.

Individuals, businesses, and other organization were encouraged to join in lowering their flags.

The U.S. flag pictured is on a lighted 80-foot pole on property annexed last year by the city of Sleepy Eye at the intersection of U.S. Highway 14 and Brown County Road 27.

The flag project became a reality thanks to many donors. It was dedicated to veterans, first responders and all community volunteers.

Starting at $4.38/week.
