Sheriff IDs victims in hog barn incident
Couple now recovering at home
YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTY — The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office released the names of two people who were airlifted to Minneapolis after being found unresponsive in a hog barn on Saturday. The Sheriff’s Office said the two victims, 32-year-old Luke Stevens and 30-year-old Melissa Stevens of rural Hazel Run, were in the process of cleaning out the hog barn when the incident occurred.
The two have been released from Hennepin County Medical Center and are now recovering at home, the Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Around 5:15 p.m., Yellow Medicine County dispatchers received a call reporting two unresponsive people in the barn. The caller helped get the Stevens out of the barn by the time deputies arrived, the Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies initiated life-saving measures, and the couple were later flown by air ambulance to HCMC.
