Testimony continues in Broadmoor trial

MARSHALL — Testimony continued in the third day of a civil trial in the lawsuit against the owners of the Broadmoor Valley mobile home park in Marshall. On Thursday morning, jurors heard more testimony from the environmental health manager of Southwest Health and Human Services.

SWHHS is the agency that inspects mobile home parks in an area that includes Lyon County.

Attorneys representing park owners Schierholz and Associates and Paul Schierholz asked environmental manager Jason Kloss additional questions about inspection reports at Broadmoor Valley.

Kloss and jurors were shown several inspection and followup reports on Broadmoor Valley between 20222 and 2024. Those reports did not include findings about problems with the roads in the park. Some of Kloss’s reports also mentioned efforts by Broadmoor Valley management to address issues like potholes or leaks in the park’s storm shelter.

Kloss also confirmed that, in a separate lawsuit brought against park owners by a residents group, he had testified that the streets at Broadmoor Valley permitted travel.

The Minnesota Attorney General’s Office sued Schierholz and Associates in 2021. Among the allegations in the lawsuit was that the Broadmoor Valley owners failed to maintain the park and its streets to state standards.

Starting at $4.38/week.
