Two airlifted in Yellow Medicine County farm incident

YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTY — Two people who were found unresponsive in a hog barn in Yellow Medicine County on Saturday were airlifted to Minneapolis, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that the two people’s condition was unknown. The incident is under investigation, but foul play is not suspected, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Responders were called to a hog farm in Friendship Township at 4:15 p.m. Saturday. When sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, the person calling in the incident had taken the two individuals out of the hog barn. Deputies performed life-saving measures until emergency medical services arrived, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Both people were flown by air ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. As of Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office did not have updates on their conditions.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkfield Fire Department and Ambulance, Granite Falls Fire Department and Ambulance, Life Link III, Mayo Clinic Air Ambulance, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office all responded at the scene.
