An artist reception for Krystl Louwagie was Thursday evening in the William Whipple Gallery at Southwest Minnesota State University. Louwagie’s exhibit, which runs through the end of the month, is titled “Layered Visions and Liminal Spaces.” In her artist statement, Louwagie said she has three main themes for her portraits in the exhibit: experimental, astrology, and masks. “Experimental is self-explanatory; I’m just playing around. The Astrology series is inspired by Xia Hunt’s ‘The Nameless One Tarot Grimoire,’ which lays out the 12 astrological signs with specific animals, colors, crystals/stones, and plants and I let these be the boundaries of my portraits,” Louwagie said in her artist statement. Regular hours to view the exhibit are: Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 11 p.m. Pictured are Louwagie, right, and her sister Jessica Kesteloot, looking through Xia Hunt’s book.

Starting at $4.38/week.
