Kwik Trip employee dies in Mankato stabbing, suspect arrested
MANKATO — A suspect has been arrested after a Kwik Trip clerk was fatally stabbed early Tuesday morning, according to Mankato Police.
Officers responded to a disturbance shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday at the business and found a man unresponsive with a knife wound. He was rushed to Mayo Clinic Health System where he was pronounced dead.
Using a surveillance video, police identified the suspect, a 28-year-old man and arrested him at his home. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting police with the investigation.
Police have not yet identified the victim or suspect.
Kwik Trip President/CEO Scott Zietlow issued a news release Tuesday.
“It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I write to inform you of an unimaginable tragedy that occurred at our Mankato store. This is a devastating loss for all of us, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” said Zietlow.
“As a company, we are fully committed to supporting our co-workers through this painful ordeal. The suspect is in custody, and we are working closely with law enforcement authorities to understand what happened. We will get through this as a community, leaning on each other for strength and support,” he said.
