Lynd crash causes multiple injuries
Hwy. 23 collision involved vehicle carrying children
LYND — A total of seven people – including five children – were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Lynd Friday afternoon, the Minnesota State Patrol said. The State Patrol reported that all seven people received non life-threatening injuries.
The crash was reported at 12:33 p.m. Friday on northbound Minnesota Highway 23, near the intersection of 220th Street, the State Patrol said. A 2008 Ford Escape driven by Shelby Maxine Korman, 19, of Lynd, and a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Christie Lynn Wieme, 42, of Balaton, were both traveling north on Highway 23 when they collided.
Korman, Wieme, and five passengers in the Chrysler were all taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with injuries, the State Patrol said. The injured passengers in the Chrysler were all juveniles between the ages of five and 14, the State Patrol reported.
Both drivers and all the passengers involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol reported.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lynd Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance and Balaton Ambulance all responded at the crash scene.
