Two injured in school bus collision

LYND — Two people, including a juvenile, were injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus, the Minnesota State Patrol said. The driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox that collided with the bus was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with injuries, and a juvenile on the bus was injured, but was not taken to a health care facility, the State Patrol reported.

The crash was reported at 3:53 p.m., at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 19 and Lyon County Road 5. At the time of the crash, a Bluebird school bus driven by Brian Ray Obe, 69, of Minneota, was northbound on County Road 5, and an Equinox driven by Paulette June Meester, 57, of Minneota, was westbound on Highway 19. The vehicles collided in the intersection, the State Patrol said.

Meester was taken to Avera Marshall with non life-threatening injuries. A juvenile in the school bus received non life-threatening injuries, but was not taken to a health care facility, the State Patrol said.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Ambulance responded at the crash scene, the State Patrol said.
