An American House at SMSU
MARSHALL — SMSU Theatre’s 53rd season closes with An American House by Lisa Nanni-Messegee and Todd Messegee. Performances are April 8-10 and 16-17 at 7:30 p.m. and April 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. All performances are in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre, with free parking available in lot B-1. Tickets are $10 and are available at www.SMSUtickets.com and at the door. In keeping with current public health guidelines, physically distanced seating is limited to approximately 75 per performance. All performances are free to SMSU students with a valid student ID.
An American House is directed by Professor Sheila Tabaka of Marshall, Minn., who is also the costume designer. Assistant professor and SMSU Theatre alumnus Mike Lenz of Cottonwood, Minn., is the scenic and lighting designer. Jim Tabaka of Marshall is the sound designer. Professor of Theatre Nadine Purvis Schmidt of Estelline, S.D., is the producer and dialect consultant. Each actor in the ensemble cast plays multiple roles. The cast and production team includes:
·Ale Emmanuel, a junior Theatre Arts major from Marshall.
· Tailer Benson, a sophomore Theatre Arts and Communication Studies double major from Elk River
· Brady Berg, a junior English Education and Theatre Arts double major from Wells.
· Alex Duus, a freshman Broadcast and Digital Media major and Theatre Arts minor from Tyler
· Molly Green, a sophomore Theatre Arts major from Silver Lake.
· Matthew Hartley, a junior Political Science major from Chippewa Falls, Wis.
· Sara Heiderscheidt, a junior Studio Art and Graphic Design double major from Redwood FallHeiderscheidt is also the co-stage manager.
· Colton Jensen, a sophomore Theatre Arts major and Political Science minor from Sanborn
·Joy Krosschell, a junior Psychology major and Management minor from Wells
·Avianna McFarquhar, a senior Theatre Arts and Management-Entrepreneurship double major from Marshall, Minn. McFarquhar is also the choreographer.
· Domonique McPhail, a junior Theatre Arts major from Murdock
· Mary Jean Porter, a senior Theatre Arts major from Marshall, Minn. Porter is also the co-stage manager.
· Leah Schmid, a freshman Agriculture Education major from Worthington
· Mary (TJ) Tjeerdsma, a junior Communication Studies major from Cherokee, Iowa.
· Dimitri Warwas, a sophomore Math major and writing minor from Marshall
· Elizabeth Zoya, a senior Theatre Arts major from Maplewood. Zoya is also the wig and hairstylist.
· Kyle Goblirsch, a freshman Business major from New Ulm is the student publicity manager.
· Sara Karpen, a junior Professional Writing and Communication major from Tea, S.D., is the house manager.
