Elaine Marie Dwire

June 22, 1943-Feb. 14, 2023

Elaine was born in Madison, Minnesota on June 22, 1943, to Anna Louise Tesch Nohrenberg and Gerhard Nohrenberg. She graduated from high school in Madison, Minnesota and then moved to Marshall, Minnesota and worked at various dry cleaners. Elaine married Richard Edwin Dwire on Dec. 8, 1962. After a few years they started their own construction business, Richard Dwire Construction and several other businesses including Marshall Redi-Mix, Rich’s Sanitation, crane service, airplane rentals, etc. Richard and Elaine were “serial entrepreneurs” and always working on something new. Elaine and Richard semi-retired in 1988 and moved to Lucerne Valley, California. After a tragic accident, Elaine lost Richard in July of 1992. After Richard’s passing, Elaine spent a lot of her time with her church, The Lucerne Valley Community Church and working at the Lucerne School System. Elaine met Phillip “Doc” Fouts in late 1992, and they spent many years singing, dancing, running the Domestic Violence Center, and enjoying each other’s companionship until his death in April 2021. Elaine moved to Louisiana in June 2022 to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren, and her girls (most days), and will be greatly missed.

Elaine enjoyed playing bingo since she was a young lady and loved to play marbles with anyone who dared to play with her. She was so darn lucky and ruthless at marbles, she was often accused of cheating, even though we knew darn well, she would never cheat. Elaine played monthly Bunco and card games with her friends in Lucerne Valley, California. She kept her family supplied for years with towels, blankets, and stuffed animals from the American Legion Bingo tent at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. Let us not forget her love for the Liquidation Jewelry Channel and yard sales, her girls and grandchildren will forever have trinkets to remember her by. Elaine was a wonderful mother and cook. She loved crab and made awesome potato dumplings. She leaves Caroline missing her glorified rice, Christine her creamed cucumbers and coleslaw, Coleen her baked beans, and Connie with too many things to name here.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Richard Dwire, her parents Anna Tesch and Gerhard Nohrenberg; three brothers Linia, Walter “Bud,” and Orville Nohrenberg; three sisters Opal Larson, Ardis Ellefson, and Annetta Larson and three nieces.

Left to carry on her memory are her daughters Caroline Tillman of Phoenix, Arizona, Christine Stebbins and her husband James of Haughton, Louisiana, Coleen Dwire of Rayville, Louisiana, Connie Tidwell of Haughton, Louisiana and stepson JP Montero of Big Bear, California. Grandchildren Richard Watkins, Brian Sik, Brandon Sik, Haley Pitman, Ashley Ash, and Michael Larson.

A celebration of life is planned for May 28, 2023, in Marshall, Minnesota with burial of Elaine’s ashes at the Marshall Cemetery next to her husband Richard. More details will be announced on Facebook as plans are finalized.
