MARSHALL — A Memorial Celebration of Life for Jennifer Serreyn, 46, of Marshall will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5- 7 p.m. Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The evening will conclude with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will then continue, at the church on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at 11 a.m.
She died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, in Edina.
Jennifer Lynn Serreyn was born Oct. 14, 1976, in Marshall. She was the daughter of Oscar “Bob” and Carol (Knieff) Serreyn. Jennifer was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth both at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall. She attended school in Marshall, graduating with the high school class of 1994, and went on to the Willmar Community College where she earned her associates degree. Jennifer then worked as a veterinary technician in Nicollet, before moving back to Marshall in 1999.
Jennifer was united in marriage to Eric Wallen on Oct. 18, 2003. The couple spent a few years together and had a son, Andrew, who became the center of Jennifer’s life as she continued to love and support him in every way over the past 18 years. Jennifer most recently had been working at US Bank in Marshall.
Jennifer was an artistic person who expressed herself through coloring and crafts. She found inspiration outdoors and had a special affection for birds in nature. She also enjoyed many summer days at the lake cabin on East Battle Lake where she was able to spend extra time with her nieces and nephews. Family was always a priority for her as she encouraged Andrew through his schooling and sporting events. Her other enjoyments in life included reading and writing poetry and caring for her pet Pomeranians.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Wallen of Marshall; mother, Carol Serreyn of Marshall; brothers, Richard (and Kris) Serreyn of Marshall, Michael Serreyn of Marshall; pet dog, Tootsie; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Bob Serreyn.
