COTTONWOOD–The funeral service for Karyl “Kary” Brower, 69, of Cottonwood, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Raymond Christian Reformed Church in Raymond, MN. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church, and will continue one hour prior to the service. Following a funeral luncheon, interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Cottonwood.
Karyl “Kary” Ann (Michaelson) Brower was born December 12, 1954 to Orville and Ardis (Nyland) Michaelson in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Kary was baptized and later confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota. Kary grew up on a farm west of Cottonwood with her parents and older sister. In 1971, Kary and her parents moved into Cottonwood. She attended Cottonwood Public Schools.
On August 26, 1971 Kary had her first date with her future husband Glenn Brower. After that night both Kary and Glenn knew that this was going to be a very special relationship. On March 11, 1972 Kary and Glenn were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. They became the proud parents of two sons. The couple resided at Cottonwood their entire married life. In 2013, Kary and Glenn joined the Raymond Christian Reformed Church and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2022.
Kary loved being a mom. She did daycare for many years so she could be home for her boys until they were older. In December of 1996 Kary began a 25 year career in the Accounting Department of North Star Mutual Insurance Company in Cottonwood. She retired in January of 2022.
Kary enjoyed going to church and school events for her sons and later for her grandchildren as well. She liked cooking, doing the laundry, and reading. She especially liked staying at a cabin in the Black Hills. She also enjoyed going to sprint car races with Glenn.
Jesus came to bring Kary home on November 7, 2024. She passed away peacefully with Glenn by her side at the Clarkfield Care Center. She was 69 years, 10 months and 26 days of age. Kary is survived by her husband Glenn of over 52 years; son Jonathan (Dani) and children Jakeb, Kallyn, Lexy, and Macey; son Dennison (Christy) and children Caralyn and Kennady; nephew Michael Heidemann (Amy) and children Brianna, Kaleb, and Aaron; nephew Erik Heidemann (Barbi) and children Grace, Ellie, and Josie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her parent-in-laws, her sister Charyl Heidemann, and her brother-in-law Edward Heidemann.
Kary will truly be missed.
