Janice (Jan) Rae Mann
SUN CITY, AZ–Janice (Jan) Rae Mann passed away peacefully on November 18th in Sun City West, AZ, surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregivers. She was laid to rest in Scottsdale, AZ, among those who cherished her.
Born in Finley, North Dakota, to Ivan and Cora (Coey) Morey, Janice’s childhood unfolded across various Midwest locales. Her adventurous spirit led her to the US State Department in Europe, where she met her beloved husband, Robert.
After their marriage in Marshall, MN, Janice and Robert settled in San Francisco, CA, joyfully adopting their son, Christopher, and daughter, Melissa. They lived in Marinwood and then in Novato, CA.
Janice was known for her boundless generosity. She volunteered extensively at the Marin Humane Society, Rafael Convalescent Hospital, and Hospice Care. As a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Novato, she was active in the choir, committees, and Bible studies, always eager to help.
In 1996, Janice and Robert returned to Marshall, MN, and joined First Lutheran Church. This move brought Janice closer to family and old friends, fulfilling a lifelong dream of church, volunteering, and family life in MN with Robert.
In her later years, Janice faced Alzheimer’s with grace, supported by her family and the caring staff at Avista Memory Care in Sun City West, AZ. Their compassion helped her maintain her spirit and communication skills. The family extends deep gratitude to the caregivers for their support.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert. She is survived by her children, Melissa and Christopher; grandchildren, Haley Kent, Sydney Mann, and Abigayle Kent; nieces, Karen (Barber), Kristen, and Kimberley and their mother, Marilou Mann; and her brother-in-law, Sidney (Ricky) Mann, whom she always thought of like a son.
