RUSSELL–Audrey Rasmussen, age 92, of Russell, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Grace First Parish in Russell, Minnesota. A luncheon for attendees will follow the service on Monday in the church basement. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, also at the church. Private Interment will be held later in the Russell Cemetery. Audrey May Hefti was born on February 12, 1932, in Lyons Township, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Clarence and Carrie (Goodmund) Hefti. Audrey graduated from Lynd High School in 1950 and soon married Robert “Bob” Rasmussen. They were united in marriage on June 21, 1950, at the First Presbyterian Parsonage in Russell, Minnesota. They shared over 56 years of marriage together and had three sons.
Audrey worked for six years as a secretary to the Superintendent of Russell Schools before transitioning to ASC office in Marshall. She worked there for 24 years and then spent another 21 years as the secretary and treasurer for both First Presbyterian Church and later Grace First Parish in Russell.
Audrey was always a faithful member of her church and part of the Russell American Legion Auxiliary since 1956. Her enjoyments in life included watching birds, tending to her flower gardens, attending any sporting event, and telling you like it is. She was a feisty and hard-working woman who always put her family first.
Audrey Rasmussen died on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, just weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her 3 children, Paul Rasmussen of Russell, Clarence (and Carol) Rasmussen of Alexandria, Gene “Beaner” (and Cindy) Rasmussen of Lynd; 5 grandchildren, Robert (and Danae) Rasmussen of Tea, SD, Angie (and Nate) Kebut of Sioux Falls, SD, Chris (and Sara) Rokeh of Crooks, SD, Hope Rasmussen of Omaha, NE, Lexi (and Josh) Pfluger of Sioux Falls, SD; 11 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Kailey, Sterling, Creed, Avany, Kipton, London, Josie, Cece, Porter, Emma; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Carrie Hefti; husband, Robert Rasmussen; and 3 siblings, Roy Hefti, Marlyn Hefti, and Dorothy Bengston.
