Carolyn Marie (Dale) Harwood

Carolyn Marie (Dale) Harwood passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025. She was born November 14, 1938, in Lynn, Minnesota to Alfred and June Dale. She was the second oldest of nine children. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1956. After high school she attended nursing school in Winona, Minnesota. She met Jim Harwood, at the funeral of a friend, and two weeks later they eloped on December 31, 1958. They were blessed to have 66 years together. They had four children: Sue, Jim Jr., Sandy and Scott.

Carolyn enjoyed her nursing career, until they moved to Roswell, Georgia where she worked for the city of Roswell for over 25 years until her retirement at the age of 75. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran church in Johns Creek, GA. Carolyn was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for making banana bread and giving it to those she loved and appreciated. Carolyn enjoyed traveling to attend family reunions and sharing her birthday with her two siblings Roger and Mary. She also got great pleasure from being involved in her grandchildrens and great grandchildren’s lives whether it be from cheering at a sporting event or listening to a musical, she was there when she could be to support them.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Jim of Alpharetta, GA; daughter Sue (Konrad) Wilke of Muscatine, IA; son Jim (Cheri) Harwood Jr, of Woodstock, GA; daughter Sandy (Randy) Britt of Johns Creek, GA; son Scott Harwood of Alpharetta, GA. 7 Grandchildren; Matt (Annie)Wilke, Hannah (Miles) Wilke, Andrew (Hannah) Harwood, Douglas (Bri) Harwood, Shawn Helbig, Nicole (Corey) Helbig-Briggs, Cody (Jane) Britt . 7 Great Grandchildren; Nora Wilke, Aiden Wilke, Elizabeth Wilke, Kayleigh Harwood, Sebastian Harwood, Travis Britt, Hope Flowers-Britt. Siblings; Mary DeAustin, Peggy (Gene) Dixson, Allen (Cathy) Dale, Albert (Karen) Dale, Irene Dale, brother-in-law Bill Meyenburg, and sister-in-law JoAnn Dale and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceding her death are her parents, Alfred and June Dale, brothers Roger Dale and Rolland Dale, sister Helen Meyenburg; brother in-law Larry DeAustin and sister in-law Janet Dale.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date.
