Gordon Hedman

MANKATO — Services for Gordon A. Hedman, 99, of Mankato, formerly of Storden, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church, rural Westbrook. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church Friday. The service will be livestreamed on the church Facebook page. Burial will be in Old Westbrook Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He died Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

He was born March 5, 1925, on the family farm in Storden Township, Cottonwood County, to Alfred and Olga (Gustad) Hedman. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1945. He served in occupied Japan and received his honorable discharge in 1946.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathryn Hedman of Mankato, Judith Hedman of Minneapolis, Susan Fickle of New Brighton, and Ruth Hedman of Minneapolis; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Mathiason Warner of Walnut Grove.
