June Lorraine Kosen

COTTONWOOD–Memorial service for June Lorraine Kosen will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at English Lutheran Church in Cottonwood beginning at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will take place at church Friday, January 17, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday morning one hour prior to the service. Graveside service will take place at English Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery following the memorial service. Upon conclusion of the committal service a luncheon will be held at church.

June Lorraine (Fischer) Kosen was born June 7, 1942 on the family farm in Vesta Township in Redwood County, Minnesota to Lawrence C. Fischer and Adelaide (Schrupp) Fischer. She was baptized June 28, 1942 and confirmed May 6, 1956 in St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, MN. She attended St. Johns Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1960.

On December 25, 1960 she was united in marriage to Byron R. Kosen in St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed in Posen Township until 1974 when they purchased a farm in Stanley Township, Lyon County, Minnesota where they lived and farmed for the next 50 years.

June worked at the State Bank in Wood Lake from 1960 – 1963. She then began working side by side with Byron on the farm. June was an active member of English Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, and truly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

June died on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Prairie Home Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Cottonwood.

She is survived by her children Sherry Franzoia of Blue Springs, MO, Eric Kosen (Taunya) of Vesta, Lance (Laura) Kosen of Cottonwood; grandchildren Jessica (Craig) Nnebedum, Shane (Katarina) Kosen, Nicholas Kosen, Tanner Kosen, Dakota (Lyndsee) Kosen, David (Janan) Franzoia, Austin Kosen, Tyler Franzoia; great-grandchildren Waylon, Oliver, June, Aurthur, Michael; siblings Darla (Robert) Sonntag, Murl (Sharolyn) Fischer, Connie (Tom) Gruthot; brother-in-law Larry Hoepner; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

June is preceded in death by her husband Byron Kosen; parents Lawrence and Adelaide Fischer; Sister Pat Hoepner; Step-granddaughter Tara Nagel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to English Lutheran Church in Cottonwood.
