Theodore A. Lindberg

Aug. 11, 1931-Jan. 5, 2025

MINNETONKA–Theodore A. Lindberg, ‘Ted’, passed away January 5th, 2025 in Minnetonka, MN at the young age of 93. He was born August 11, 1931, in Minneapolis MN, to Arthur and Lucille (Mingo) Lindberg. Raised during the Great Depression and having a mind of his own, Ted began working full-time at an early age to assist his family financially. His formal education ended at the completion of the eighth grade. In 1947 Ted joined Lathers Union #190 to work alongside his father and brothers. In 1950 he married Elaine Aamodt and the two began their own family with the addition of eight children. The family relocated to Marshall, MN so Ted could participate in the construction of Southwest Minnesota State College. As his talent and reputation grew, Lindberg Company, a family business, was created. This enterprise was successful because of the contributions of both Ted and Elaine and remained so long after they returned to Minneapolis in 1985. While in his 70s and unwilling to retire, Ted went to work for RTL Construction and later began flipping houses in the metro area.

Ted was always compelled to help others. He was involved in local government as a Lyon County Commissioner, a parish council member at Holy Redeemer Church, a parent to foster children, a host to Foreign Exchange Students, Missionary work in San Lucas Toliman (Guatemala), an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 62 years, and a sponsor to countless men also seeking sobriety. His children are grateful to their parents for teaching them a strong work ethic and providing them a Catholic education. Like everyone, Ted was not perfect nor was he ashamed to admit it. He would always accept his mistakes as another lesson in life on humility, acceptance and forgiveness of self and others. Those who knew Ted would say he tried to have a positive attitude in all matters. Ted’s infectious laugh and love of music and songs will remain happy memories for many.

While in his 80s, Ted began Powerlifting under the training of Chad Henry with his first meet in 2015. Ted is a two-time IPL World Champion, three-time World Record Holder IPL USAPA, two-time State record holder USAPL & USAPA. Ted’s heaviest competition lift was 110kg (242lb) and is still the current world record in two weight classes and age classes. In 2022, Ted was inducted into the Hall of Fame Minnesota Senior Sports Association.

Ted was fortunate to find love again when he met Mary Claire Remington in his golden years. MC was his life partner through thick and thin. They enjoyed many adventures home and abroad until the day he died. Without Mary Claire’s loving care and encouragement, Ted’s life would have been much shorter and much less joyful.

Ted is preceded in death by his former wife Elaine. He is survived by Mary Claire Remington, eight children including sons: Andy (Vicki) Lindberg, Ted L. Lindberg, Eric Lindberg (Karen B), daughters: Kristine (Kevin) Nagel, Margaret (Roger) Skorczewski, Carol (Gary) Nelson, Mary Polanec (Scott Garrett), Amy Lindberg, 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and his ‘kid’ brother Arthur ‘Butch’ Lindberg.

Visitation will be held at Washburn-McReavy in Hopkins on Monday, January 13th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, including a prayer service at 7pm. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Therese of Deephaven in Wayzata on January 14th at 12:00pm, followed by lunch at the church and internment at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery.
