Jeanette M. Bestland

MARSHALL–Jeanette M. Bestland, 86 passed away comfortably and peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Home and Comfort Assisted living in Coleraine, MN.

Jeanette was born on October 28, 1938, and raised on the family farm in Marshall, MN. Jeanette graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1956 and then pursued a college medical laboratory assistant degree at the University of MN, Minneapolis. Jeanette raised her two sons Paul and Michael Bestland in a home she occupied for over 50 years located in Brooklyn Park, MN. Jeanette’s employment history included farming in her early years, working as a lab assistant and later as a seamstress. Jeanette provided tailoring services in her home for several years and later proudly opened and ran her very own tailor shop, Sew Plus Tailors in Brooklyn Park, MN. She was a very talented tailor and was featured in the Brooklyn Park Pages.

Jeanette was an active member, leader, choir member and volunteer in the Episcopalian Church. Jeanette completed the Sacred Ground Center for Spirituality program at St. Catherine, St. Paul MN in her 60’s. Jeanette was very proud of being chemical free for over 45 years. She was an active participant in AA groups. Jeanette loved music and singing loudly. Hobbies over the years included business networking, gardening, refurnishing furniture and swimming. She enjoyed tea parties, making gingerbread houses and spending time with her grandchildren.

Jeanette is survived by her children Paul Bestland (Amy Bestland) and Michael Bestland (Kari Jackson), granddaughters Adele and Audrey Bestland, sibling Robert Jacob (Lois) and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Gerard and Elizabeth (Doom) Jacob, sisters Delores Vierstreate, Marion Jacob and brothers George and Donald Jacob. Jeanette will be missed. Family is especially thankful for the loving care provided by caregivers at Home and Comfort and St. Croix Hospice.

A visitation and funeral will be held on February 7, 2025, at Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall, MN. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., service will follow at 11a.m. Jeanette will be laid to rest at the Calvary Cemetery in Marshall, MN.
