Kristin “Kristi” Shelaine Olson-Raff exuded kindness, positivity and compassion to every person she met. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many.
Kristi was born to Roger Olson and Janet (Jorgenson) Olson at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall on June 3, 1974. She was the middle child between her older brother Rick Olson and younger sister Amy Ingebrigtson. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Marshall and graduated Marshall Senior High School in 1992. From there she went on to graduate from SMSU with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Her son Nicolas Olson was born October 5, 1994. She then married Ed Raff October 23, 2004.
Kristi started her career at US Bank Equipment Finance in 1999. She loved her job and all of the people she worked with. She wasn’t afraid to confront the unknown and would face any challenges with a strong determination. Her exuberant personality and friendly demeanor assisted in her connections with clients and co-workers alike.
Some of the hobbies that Kristi liked to partake in were watching her favorite television shows that range anywhere from cooking and house flipping to hospital dramas and crime solving. She liked to spend weekends at the cabin near Alexandria, MN, and take family trips to places like Colorado. Another favored but also productive pastime of hers is spreadsheeting. She loved to keep everything and everyone organized. Spending time with their giant dogs Rollo, an English Mastiff, and Freyja, a Newfoundland, brought her overwhelming joy and comfort. Kristi also loved to spend time with her remarkably supportive and loving husband Ed. They cherished the time they spent together. Taking road trips, going to movies, and cooking together are some of the best memories of their lives. However, her favorite thing to do was to spoil her grandson Griffin Olson, born to Nicolas and Sara Olson on July 8, 2020.
Her incredibly indomitable and bright soul left this world surrounded by her loved ones on February 11, 2025, at age 50 after battling a multitude of health issues. Despite the adversity that Kristi went through, she never complained or let her convictions waver. She simply took her unfortunate circumstances in stride and continued to shine her light on everyone she encountered. The memory of Kristi will continue to live on in the hearts of the many people she has touched throughout her life.
Kristi is survived by her husband Ed, son Nicolas (Sara) Olson, grandson Griffin, mother Janet, brother Rick (Kim), their children Sydni, Sam, and Gavin Olson, sister Amy (Paul), their children Tyler and Aiden Ingebrigtson, brother-in-law Dan (Dana) and their child Damian Raff, in-laws Ed (Marian) Raff Jr., numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by father Roger Olson, grandparents Leonard and Elenora Jorgenson, Orvald, Avis, and Ida Olson, uncles Larry Jorgenson and Richard Gross.
