CANBY–Sharon Schilling, age 84 of Canby, Minnesota, formerly of Sibley, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Sanford Canby Medical Center. Burial at Holman Township Cemetery, will take place at a later date. There will be no funeral, per Sharon’s request.
Sharon Kay Steinke was born October 3, 1940, in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon and Vivian (Frey) Steinke. She grew up in Sibley, Iowa with her three siblings. She was baptized, confirmed, and had her first communion at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley.
Sharon was blessed with 2 daughters, DeAnn and Tricia. She raised her family in Canby, Minnesota and worked as an administrative assistant for the Minnesota Department of Health for 30 years, retiring from there in 2003. She then worked at First Security Bank for 10 years.
She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and a member of the Minnesota Iris Society. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, and caring for pets and strays.
She is survived by her daughters, DeAnn (Carl) Conrad of Westbrook, MN and Tricia (Richard) Bueltel of Canby, MN; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Gene (Janet) Steinke of Sibley, IA; along with extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Vernon and Vivian; brother, Lynn Steinke; and sister, Linda Ridgway.
Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is in charge of arrangements.
