Born on October 10, 1959, in Luverne, Minnesota, she was the beloved daughter of Bernard and Ruby (Watts) Dobson. Tamara was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Luverne on November 15, 1959, and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. She attended Lake Benton Public School, graduating in 1978, and later earned a degree from the Southwest Campus in Granite Falls in 1979 as a legal secretary.

Tamara worked at her family’s business, the Burger Inn, from the young age of 10 until she was 24. She went on to own and operate Slegers Café in Tyler, Minnesota, and later ran Teddy’s N Tykes Daycare from 1995 until her passing in 2025.

On April 26, 1986, Tamara married Gerrit Allen Slegers Sr. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Together, they raised three sons: Gerrit Jr., Shaun, and Nathan Slegers.

Tamara had a deep devotion to her faith, teaching Sunday School, serving as Sunday School superintendent, and leading youth group activities at Grace Lutheran Church when her boys were young. She also served on the church board.

Tamara was known for her kindness and devotion to her boys and offering her kindness to anyone in need. She cherished time with her grandchildren and her four beloved puppies: Piper, Harley, Chopper, and Bentley. She found joy in car rides with her daughters-in-law and looked forward to holidays spent with family.

Tamara enjoyed life’s simple pleasures-McDonald’s double caramel iced coffee, Denver omelets with coffee and cream, and her favorite Dr. Pepper. Her final days were spent with her family by her side. She was embraced by the love of her family but most importantly God when she took her last breath.
