Going back in time for Sounds of Summer
It will be a blast from the past on Aug. 23 in Marshall.
Last Friday, the Sounds of Summer Committee jumped back into the past and announced that the Fabulous Armadillos will the headlining band for this year’s concert.
The Fabulous Armadillos is an great pick. According to their website, their roots are in Minnesota and known for recreations of songs from many genres of music from country, Motown, heavy metal and ’70s’ rock.
Two years ago, according to Committee member Brock Klaith, the Fabulous Armadillos generated a lot of excitement and drew a record-setting crowd to Sounds of Summer. According to Brock, the committee looks for bands that will appeal to the different demographics that come together at Sounds of Summer.
Another interesting tidbit about the Fabulous Armadillos involves their lead singer. Chris Hawkey is a radio co-host and producer for a very successful KFAN radio show out of Minneapolis.
Meanwhile, the Sounds of Summer committee had already announced that Maiden Dixie would be the opening act. Also a popular Minnesota band, Maiden Dixie performed in 2019 at Hop Fest held at the Brau Brothers Brewing Company in Marshall.
According to band’s website, They’ve played every A-list club in Minnesota, opened for several national acts, and are well suited for the bigger outdoor stages at fairs or festivals. Their music features country, rock, blues and folk genres.
“At some point, you’re going to hear a song you know,” Brock told the Independent.
We agree.
Like the old saying goes: “We’re here because of the music.”
