Vote for Sturrock to serve on city council
To the editor:
David Sturrock is running for Marshall City Council in Ward Two. I have known David for many years through his work in our community. He has volunteered for a number of community groups, including Cub and Boy Scouts, the Chamber of Commerce and for his church.
As a parent of two high schoolers, David knows firsthand that young people and their activities are at the heart of our community. At the same time, David also brings experience with city issues. During an earlier term on the Council David offered two reforms that helped the city better manage its finances. He was also willing to vote “no” when he thought a proposal was too costly or unwise. This experience will be very valuable as Marshall struggles to manage its current budget problems. Our city property tax grew 9 percent each in 2023 and 2024 and is headed for a similar increase in 2025.
David was always happy to help solve neighborhood issues in Ward Two, including safety concerns at Freedom Park and snow plowing problems. His experience and his talents will make David a valuable addition to the city council. I hope you will join me in voting for David Sturrock for Marshall City Council in Ward Two.
