To the editor:

As a lifelong resident of southwest Minnesota, I’ll be casting my vote for Senator Amy Klobuchar on Election Day. Here’s why:

Number one: she’s fighting for our farmers. Southwest Minnesota needs and deserves a senator who will stand up for the men and women who feed our state and nation. If we send Senator Klobuchar back to Washington, she’ll use her leadership role on the Agriculture Committee to pass a strong Farm Bill that gives Minnesota farmers the support they need. 

Number two: she’s committed to bringing down costs. Senator Klobuchar led the bill to take on Big Pharma and bring down medication costs for 9 million American seniors. On top of that, she’s working to make child care and housing more affordable, including by taking on the corporate hedge funds that are buying up houses and jacking up costs. 

Number three: she always has our backs. Right here in Marshall, she secured funding for the Highway 19 Reconstruction Project. And when we saw flood waters rise in communities across southern Minnesota earlier this year, Senator Klobuchar led our state’s members of Congress — both Democrats and Republicans — in calling on the Administration to provide disaster relief. 

That’s what leadership looks like — working with people you don’t always agree with to get stuff done. That’s why Senator Klobuchar has my vote.
