To the editor:

What happened to all the Democrats? Did we forget it was Jan. 6? Don’t you remember what happened four year ago? Trump supporters went full insurrectionist and tried to overturn the 2020 election results. I know some of you thought it might be treasonous or against the law or un-American. But that isn’t true.

Trump and lots of other Republicans think that those insurrectionists were wrongly imprisoned since all they did was violently storm the U.S. Capitol, assault and injure dozens of police officers and chant hang Vice President (Mike) Pence. Trump called them hostages and says he will pardon them.

So there’s no way the incoming president or his supporters would have held it against Democrats if they engaged in a light attack on the Capitol to subvert the will of the American people. They would call us heroes and great patriots. If Republicans get a free coup, don’t Democrats? Isn’t that how this country works?

It would have been fine to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power and then be exonerated because Republicans and Trump have made it clear they are perfectly fine with an insurrection.

At last, Democrats took the honorable road and certified the election.
