Bring it on!
I know things can change quickly, and, probably will, but I’m still going to say it: “Bring it on!”
It’s nice that the gods of summer don’t seem to want to leave us. However, it’s past time. Please let the goddesses of fall regal us with gently refreshing cool breezes.
And as we all know, there’s a reason for all the seasons. So, let’s not dawdle! Please, Mother Nature, let the cold and warm weather fronts float around us and give us some reason to put on our warmer clothes.
Before the icy winds of winter invade us, let there be more pleasing fall winds. Before the ice and snow of winter, let us have some much needed rain. Let our seasonal changes return to normalcy.
Bring it on!
Alright, let’s liven up this rendering with a bit of a South African white wine called Live-a-Little Wildly Wicked Wine. It’s a blend of sauvignon blanc and chenin blanc. I was surprised to taste such tartness in the wine. At first, my first tasting thought was it tasted like tequila. There was some agave flavors that soon disappear to be replaced by a long crisp citrus finish. Wildly wicked, yeah!!
I’m glad I got it and brought it to my tasting experience.
I thoroughly enjoy baseball, and am happy the game instituted some time restrictions at the professional level of play. This year’s World Series was very interesting for me. Why? Because the Los Angeles Dodgers won the championship. Let me explain…
My grandson is a full blooded New York Yankee fan. Naturally, we had a lot of fun with the series. We even placed a bet on the outcome, and, naturally, I won! However, I can just hear him say this when I start to talk about the just finished series. He’ll stand proudly with his Yankees, and tell me in no uncertain terms to “Bring it on!” next year!
It’s time for a comforting brown brew. Let’s bring on the porters and stouts and enjoy their caramelly tastes. How about a glass of Alaska Smoked Porter — limited edition? The soft brown sugar taste is delicious and warms your innards. I love the robust smoky flavor of the beer. So, as the weather cools, grab a dark beer. It’s time — bring it on!
It’s time for the soil to rest. Do what you can to protect and enrich the soil with fallen leaves, rotting pumpkins or whatever you have to compost. The earth deserves our respect — bring it on.
Therefore, in the spirit of “bringing it on,” I’ll try a new wine. What will it be? Hmmm…
I’ve been saving a bottle of Everly Farms Itasca. The winery is located in Minnetrista, and the bottle was a gift from a family member. I’ll let you know how it tastes in a future writing.
I was attending a program by a local author. As I talked with him, his wife and their two little children appeared next to me. After buying a couple of books and chatting with the entire family, I left for the public library. After doing my reading there, I was walking out the door and who should In run into but the author’s little boy! I showed him the book I just purchased and asked him to identify the author’s picture. He proudly stated it was his dada!
He and his mother were checking out a book of CDs about rock and roll music. Yes! That nudged me to start listening to some good old rock and roll music. Bring it on!
Yes, we want to change of seasons. Looking back at my opening statement in this column, I hope I don’t regret telling Old Man Winter to “Bring it on!”
As always, eat and drink in moderation but laugh with reckless abandon!
Cheers!
