The photograph featured this week from the Lyon County Museum’s collection shows Petrea Hoff tending to her chickens. Petrea (Petrina) (Petra) Severson Sigurdson Hoff was born on Sept. 5, 1869, in Iceland and passed away on June 6, 1952, in Marshall. She is buried at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Minneota. She immigrated with her family to the United States around 1880. They settled in Lincoln County. She married Stephen (Stefan) Josefsson Hoff on March 18, 1892. After their marriage, they lived in a few places around Minneota and later in Minneota. They had a son, Joseph Carlin James Hoff, who was born in 1914.
