TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers cruised to a straight sets victory over the Renville County West Jaguars.
In the first set TMB was led by Amber Hensch and Jaelynn Carter as they both had to six kills in the set controlling the pace of the set and not allowing the blocks of the Jaguars to affect them in any way TMB would go on to win the first set 25-18.
In the second set, the Panthers came out on fire and was up 10-5 before the Jaguars called a time-out. That seem to help the Panthers because they went on a 7-0 run following the timeout and extended their lead to 12. The Panthers would easily close out the Jaguars in set two 25-15, with mainly scoring by errors committed by the Jaguars.
In the third set the Panthers jumped all over the Jaguars, opening up with a 9-0 run and closing them out with a 25-13 set and match win.
Ella Kamrud led the team in kills with 10 while teammate Hensch had eight kills. Hailey Gernentz led the team in assists with 28 and senior Grace Dolan led the team in digs with 14. After a comfortable win, head coach of the Panthers Rick Haberman elaborated on the team’s performance.
“We started out not talking as much on defense and moving our feet as we like,” Haberman said. “By midway through the first set I thought we cleaned up those areas and we started to play wonderful volleyball.”
Haberman added that he wanted his team to stay in the moment, enjoy the win for tonight and they’ll go to work tomorrow. He also talked about the play of Kamrud and Hensch, stating that they have improved since last year and the beginning of this year and he is happy to see their progress.
The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers are (7-3) and will play next Tuesday evening against Central Minnesota Christian.
